Having already created image templates for dynamic ads within your catalog, you can launch your next campaign.

In order to create a campaign select “Manage” at the top of the page.

Next select “Create Campaign”.


Next you will be asked to specify your campaign’s objective. 

Select “Product Catalog Sales” in order to promote the product catalog you were just working on. Product catalog sales is commonly used when running a campaign made up of dynamic ads.

Select the catalog that you would like to use for this campaign.

You can edit any of the General Information such as “Name” before proceeding to the “Adsets” page.


Once on the “Adsets” page, fill in the details as required.

You can create the first adset as your retargeting campaign and the second as your prospecting campaign.

The “Product Set” will include the items from the catalog that you had previously selected. You may have more than one product set listed here depending on how many you created within “Catalogs”.


Next set your budget and schedule for this campaign. 

Next set up bidding.

Settings have been automatically generated to meet the objectives of a product catalog campaign.

For example: 

Conversion Events- the optimization goal is to convert your audience 

Event Type- you want your target to purchase the products in your catalog

Conversion Window- you are setting parameters in which a purchase is considered to be the result of your ad. 

Billing Event- costs to run your ad are measured in impressions

Bid- you can ad a bid cap later if your campaign isn’t performing as well as you would like.

Delivery Type- is standard because we have selected “Lowest Cost Auto”. If you choose a different bid then you will have the option to select “Accelerated”.


Next set up the placement for your ad. 

By selecting “Automatic” you are letting your ad run on Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network and Messenger. 

By selecting “Edit Placement and Devices” you are manually selecting the platforms you would like for your ads to appear on.

Next set up Targeting.

Determine whether you are creating a retargeting or prospecting campaign.

Select your target audience from the following choices; people who viewed or added to cart but not purchased, added to cart but not purchased, upsell products, cross-sell products or custom. 

Your ad will retarget those who have completed those actions in the last X amount of days.

Next choose characteristics of your audience such as location, age, gender and languages. 

By entering criteria into the “Detailed”, “Custom Audience” and “Connections & Engagements” sections you are narrowing your target audience further. This is useful for prospecting campaigns. 


Next select “Continue with Ads” at the bottom right side of the screen or scroll to the top of the page and select “Add” to create another ad set.

You can create a second ad set that focuses on prospecting. You can reflect this in the name.


You will create this ad set in a similar manner as the retargeting adset.

Once you have completed this ad set,  select “Continue with Ads” at the bottom right of the screen.


Next, create your ad. 


You can select which ad sets you would like to create ads for. By selecting both retargeting and prospecting you are connecting the ad that you will create to both ad sets. 

Next name your ad.


Select whether you would like to create a single or carousel ad. 

You can now access your newly created custom image DPA templates. 

Complete the ad format and preview your ad on the right. 


Next, create carousel ads that you can use for your re-targeting and prospecting campaigns.

Select “Add Ad” at the top of the screen to create additional ads.


You can name the ad accordingly.


Repeat the same steps you took to create the single ads.

Once you have finished creating your campaign select “Send to Facebook” or “Save Draft”.
