We’re excited to introduce automation plans, the new and improved version of automated catalogs, designed to make your campaign workflows more efficient and intuitive.

What’s New?

Creative & Placement asset customization Upgrades

  • No more "Big save" - all your work is automatically saved in the catalogs.

  • To reduce confusion and improve usability, automation plans are now separated from catalogs and fully focused on workflow automation.

  • Multi-artboard templates are now the default for greater design flexibility.

  • Placement asset customization in campaigns has been redesigned to be more intuitive.

  • Placement overrides are coming soon for per-placement creative control.

Filter & Feed Improvements

  • Filters are now fully editable.

  • The All items view now truly includes all items.

  • Item thumbnails now appear in filters as long as the feed contains any image.

Key Things to Know

  • Automation plans do not support multi-item formats like collage or slideshows.

  • You can still build carousels using grouped filters in campaign setup.

  • We’re not migrating DPA-based automated catalogs at this time, but plan to explore future support for that use case.

  • Automation plans focus on feeds built for workflows, not for generic product catalogs.

  • We’ve removed mapper and extender tools, and all data should come ready in the automation plan sources.

A Note for Automated ads from DPA Users

  • If you’re using automation plans based on product catalogs, keep in mind:
Features like widgets, countdowns, and percentage indicators are only available in catalog ads.

  • You may need separate campaigns for this workflow, and you’ll miss out on advanced creative tools.

  • We recommend using catalog ads for product-focused campaigns where possible, and we’re happy to help you make that transition smoothly.

Migration & Eligibility

  • All eligible automated catalogs will be upgraded to automation plans automatically.

  • Catalogs that are not eligible for migration will remain unchanged and continue working as-is.

  • Once upgraded, users will only have access to automation plans. Automated catalogs will no longer be available by default.

  • From now on, you’ll only be able to create automation plans directly.

  • If you still need to create an automated ads catalog (even with a reason why this isn’t ideal), please contact your CS Manager who can help facilitate this.
