What Are Template Collections?
To run campaigns with desired templates, those templates must be part of a Meta catalog, which you would typically create through Commerce Manager. In Hunch, this process involves Template Collections - upgraded form of catalogs that support up to 6 multi-placement templates per collection. These collections focus on enabling new Meta creative capabilities while providing better performance through consolidated learning.
Template Collections function as multi-placement retargeting catalogs, supporting 6 templates across 3 placement types (Feed, Stories, Reels) to maximize reach and performance. Users now manually assign templates to collections during publishing, providing better control over template combinations.
The Template Collections page allows you to create, manage, and monitor collections, including template assignment, replacement, and usage tracking.
How Template Collections Are Created and Managed?
1. Claiming catalog or Destination Setup
If you have created your Hunch catalog by claiming an already running catalog on Meta, than that catalog will now be used as Template Collection. All your running ads will continue to run as they have previously, but on top of that you can use templates for any new ads you create in Hunch!
If you have manually created your catalog, To enable template collections, you must authorize Meta and configure destination details during the catalog creation process.
2. Publishing and Manual Template Assignment
When publishing compatible templates (minimum square format required), users choose from 4 assignment options:
Assign to Collection - Select a collection with available slots (up to 6 templates)
Replace Template - Swap an existing template in any collection
Create New Collection - Available only when all existing collections are at capacity
Assign Later - Mark template as ready but not published for campaign use
Incompatible templates are marked as ready and can be used for enriched feeds or assigned later.
3. (Optional) Adding CPV Packages
CPV packages work similarly to legacy catalogs. You can pair CPV packages with image templates, adding videos in square, portrait, and story formats to the collection for campaign use.
4. Managing Template Collections
From the Template Collections page, users can:
Create new collections manually
Monitor sync status and template assignments
Replace templates using the "Manage" action
Check template usage across campaigns
Delete outdated Dynamic media catalog

Legacy Platform Catalog Transition
Both Multi-Template Catalogs and Dynamic Media Catalogs will remain available and continue supporting your existing campaigns. However, for all future template publishing and management, you'll need to create new Template Collections. This allows you to gradually phase out legacy catalogs by building your template workflow around Template Collections while maintaining uninterrupted performance for current campaigns using the older catalog types.
