Smart sets - Setup

Written by Igor Simovic

What Is a Smart Set?

A Smart Set is a powerful feature that allows you to create dynamic product sets driven by both Google Analytics and Meta product metrics.

Essentially, it automates the selection of products based on their recent performance, refreshing once a week using data from the past 28 days.

This means you’ll always have an up-to-date set of products without manually updating them.

How Does It Work?

When you decide to create a Smart Set, you’ll see a prompt introducing five available strategies. Each strategy includes an impact score that helps you understand if it’s the right time to use that strategy based on your current product performance.

Strategy Options

You can choose from strategies like Best Converters, Highest Revenue, Hidden Gems, Insufficient ROAS, and Eye Candy. After selecting a strategy, you’ll be able to adjust how many products are selected.

There are two types of strategies, Inclusion strategies that select the best performing products, and exclusion strategies that keep majority of the catalog but exclude the worst performing ones.

The inclusion strategies are Best Converters, Highest Revenue & Hidden Gems, while the exclusion strategies are Insufficient ROAS and Eye Candy.

The system will automatically refresh your Smart Set weekly, ensuring that it stays aligned with the latest 28-day performance data.

Adjusting the Number of Products

When you’re setting up an inclusion strategy, the system will choose between 10% and 40% of your catalog.
For exclusion strategies, it will exclude between 60% and 90%, filtering out the least effective products.

You have an option of refining or expanding the selection of products by using the slider. THis can be done while the Sets are running.

Recommended Setup

Inclusion Strategies

For inclusion strategies it’s best to run these alongside your usual ads for up to four weeks. After about a month, review the performance and consider switching strategies to keep things fresh. Hidden Gems can run indefinitely if it continues to deliver good results.

Exclusion Strategies

For exclusion strategies, like Insufficient ROAS and Eye Candy, you can use them to replace your regular ads. These strategies exclude underperforming products and can run indefinitely. With exclusion strategies, you’ll typically exclude the bottom 40% of products, allowing you to focus your budget on the top performers.
