Dynamic product catalog is a structured data feed that contains information about the products that an advertiser wants to promote on Meta.

Meta also requires the following mandatory fields regardless of your inventory type:

  • id

  • title

  • description

  • availability

  • condition

  • price

  • link

  • image_link

  • brand

Meta offers a range of fields that can be used to promote products on the platform. For each field, there are mandatory requirements that must be met in order to ensure that your products are effectively promoted.

Tip: Navigate to one of these links to find out exactly which fields are relevant for your vertical:

Using the information in the product catalog, Meta can dynamically generate personalized ads that feature the specific products that a person has viewed, added to cart, or purchased on an advertiser's website or app. This allows advertisers to show highly relevant ads to people who are more likely to be interested in their products.

Once you have prepared your product feed, you will need to create an individual catalog in Hunch. This means that for campaigns created in Hunch, we will not use the catalogs you have previously created on Facebook, but rather the catalogs created in Hunch.

Hunch requires the product feed to be uploaded in one of the supported formats (csc, tsv, xml, json).

However if you do not have all the correct fields, or you want to use custom verticals such as Betting or Education you can use Feed Mapper, which is feature of Hunch, that connects your custom fields with Meta required fields. You can read more on it from this article.

Frequency and Time of Syncs

Once you've connected your catalog, it's important to set up a frequency and timing for updates.

To do this, simply click on the option that matches the type of information in your feed: hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. This will ensure that your catalog is kept up-to-date with the latest information.

Tip: If you're using daily, weekly, or monthly sync, we recommend scheduling your Hunch sync right after your regular sync on Meta.

For example, if your Meta sync is scheduled for Monday at 7:00 AM, consider setting up your Hunch sync to begin at 7:30 AM to ensure your catalog is up-to-date with the latest information.

What is the 1st sync?

Once you finish uploading your feed, the first sync will begin, which creates a catalog with all your data. This is something we call the 1st sync. After the sync, you'll be able to verify that each product in your feed is properly populated and synchronized in Hunch.

It's important to track any errors and warnings during the sync process. Products with errors will not appear in promotions, so it's important to track these issues.

You can see the cause of the warnings and errors by clicking the β€œdown arrow” icon. However, don't worry too much about warnings, as products with warnings will still be shown in ads.

Will my catalog be created on Facebook as well?

The DPA catalogs that are created in the Hunch platform will also be replicated on Meta and all campaigns created in Hunch will use that Catalog.

Once your product feed is connected to the Hunch platform and dynamic ads catalogs are set up, you can create templates for different product designs using dynamic data elements from the feed.
