Rules are part of Hunch catalogs which help you make your feed vertical compliant or switching around fields which you want to be present in your catalog.

You can access the rules from input section in the catalog, or if we detect some of the mandatory fields missing you will be met with suggestions on the catalog create section.

If you are met with the rules during catalog creation process you have 2 options on hand.

Match field can be used if you have field that represents some of vertical mandatory fields, but is named differently. Example:

Set value can be used if for some values you are missing data or information.
Example for some ecomms can be that they do not have default brand or for automotive catalogs VIN is missing.

There are 2 options. First option only sets value where the data in the field is missing. The set value replaces all the data from your feed and sets it static.

If you get additional errors on the input such as recommendation to Title case your fields in case you have only all caps titles etc. you can go to input section and have 2 more options.

Text formatting is rule where you pick field for rule to apply and can select from the following: Title case, Lowercase, Upper case. It will only transform the capitalization of the letters in the fields.

Find & Replace is an option where you can select certain parts of your data with something else. An example of that could be that you have "available" in your feed, and since platforms don't support that you would need to change it to "in stock"
