Summary

Use parent level selections to narrow down your view of ad sets and ads. Selecting campaigns filters the ad sets tab to show only relevant ad sets, and selecting ad sets filters the ads tab, allowing you to focus on specific parts of your campaign structure without extra filtering.

How It Works

Campaign Insights follows the natural structure of your campaigns. When you select one or more campaigns and move to the Ad Sets tab, you'll see only ad sets that belong to those campaigns. Similarly, selecting ad sets filters the Ads tab to show only relevant ads.

Selections persist as you navigate between tabs. This lets you drill into specific campaign segments without manually applying additional filters.

Before You Begin

  • Understand the campaign structure: Campaigns → Ad Sets → Ads

  • You can select multiple items at each level

  • Selection-based filtering works with other filters

Step-by-Step Instructions

To filter ad sets by campaign selection:

  1. Go to the Campaigns tab

  2. Select one or more campaigns using checkboxes

  3. Click the Ad Sets tab

  4. View ad sets from only the selected campaigns

  5. The top bar will indicate the number of campaigns being filtered

To filter ads by ad set selection:

  1. Go to the Ad Sets tab (optionally filtered by campaign selection)

  2. Select one or more ad sets

  3. Click the Ads tab

  4. View only ads from selected ad sets

  5. The indicator shows the active selection

To clear selection filters:

  • Click Clear Selection (X button on tab)

  • Or uncheck all selected items

  • The view resets to show all campaigns, ad sets, or ads

To combine with other filters:

  • Apply standard filters

  • Make parent-level selections

  • Navigate to child levels

  • Both filters apply together and are shown in the filter bar

Use Cases or Common Problems

  • Analyze ad sets in high-performing campaigns: Select top campaigns, go to Ad Sets, and sort by performance to spot weak links.

  • Compare creatives across ad sets: Select specific ad sets across campaigns, go to Ads, and evaluate creative performance side by side.

  • Bulk edit ads in selected campaigns: Choose campaigns, go to Ads, and make batch edits efficiently.

FAQs

Q: Will selections stay if I navigate between tabs?

A: Yes, selection context stays within your session and carries over across tabs. It resets if you refresh or switch modules.

Q: Can I select ad sets from different campaigns?

A: Yes. Ad sets can be selected from different campaigns. Ads shown will reflect those ad sets regardless of campaign.

Q: What if my selected items don’t appear?

A: Selections work with filters. If a filter excludes your selected items, they won’t be visible even if selected.

Q: Is there a selection limit?

A: There’s no hard cap, but selecting hundreds of items may slow performance. Use filters for large-scale views.

Q: How do I know what's being filtered?

A: Look at the top context bar or tab. It will state the number of selected items filtering the view.

Q: Will the selection persist if I share the URL?

A: Yes. The selection context is preserved when you share the URL. Others opening the link will see the same filtered view.
